Kado-byakusho (farmers)

Kado-byakusho (farmers)
〘 noun 〙 A fudai peasant who was subordinate to his lord. The degree of servitude varied by region, but in most cases, the lord allocated or loaned him farmland and housing, and while technically they had independence, they were required to pay taxes and perform other duties for the lord, and were usually employed in the lord's labor from time to time.
