Mistake - mistake

Chinese politician of the Western Han dynasty. Also written as Chao Suo. A native of Yingchuan County (Henan Province). He studied the study of criminal law (Legalist thought) and became an official in the Taichang government, in charge of national rituals. He was selected by Emperor Wen to become the Crown Prince's Housekeeper. Even back then he was known as a "wise man," and he proposed important policies to Emperor Wen, such as border defense and immigration policy. When the Crown Prince, whom he served directly, ascended to the throne as Emperor Jing, he became his close aide, and eventually rose to the position of Chief Censor (one of the Three Dukes) and played an active role in establishing imperial power. However, his policies of being in conflict with the ministers such as Yuan Zheng and trying to weaken the power of the feudal lords led to a rebellion by the kings (the Rebellion of the Seven States of Wu and Chu), and as a temporary appeasement measure, he was executed along with his entire family in the eastern city of Chang'an.

中国、前漢の政治家。晁錯とも書く。潁川(えいせん)郡（河南省）の人。刑名(けいめい)の学（法家思想）を修め、国家の祭祀(さいし)をつかさどる太常(たいじょう)の属吏となり、文帝に抜擢(ばってき)されて太子家令となった。当時から「知恵袋」と称され、辺境の防備、移民政策などの重要な政策を文帝に建白した。直接仕えていた太子が景帝として即位してその側近となり、やがて御史大夫（三公の1人）に登って皇帝権の確立のために活躍した。しかし袁盎(えんおう)らの諸大臣と対立し、諸侯王の勢力をそごうとする彼の政策は、諸王の反乱（呉楚(ごそ)七国の乱）を招き、一時の懐柔策として、一家もろとも長安の東市で処刑された。
