This refers to a series of strata from the Early Paleozoic Era (Cambrian to Middle Ordovician) on the Korean Peninsula. The Palaeozoic strata on the Korean Peninsula are represented by the Korean system and the Late Paleozoic Pyeongan system (Late Carboniferous to Permian to Triassic), but no strata from the Late Ordovician to Early Carboniferous have been confirmed. However, rocks containing Silurian and Devonian fossils have been reported as gravel in granite. The Korean system is widely distributed on the limestone plateau of central to eastern Korea (Taebaek Mountains) and the limestone plateau of northwestern Korea, and can be divided into the following two groups.
