A town in Kamikawa District, central Hokkaido. Located roughly halfway between Asahikawa and Shibetsu, it is served by the Soya Main Line and the Do-o Expressway. To the north lies the Nayoro Basin. The town produces rice, cabbage, pumpkins, and western vegetables. It was developed by a group settler in 1901. Area: 225.11 km2 . Population: 3,832 (2010). 北海道中央部，上川郡の町。旭川市と士別市のほぼ中間にあり，宗谷本線，道央自動車道が通じる。北部には名寄(なよろ)盆地が広がる。米，キャベツ，カボチャ，洋菜類を産する。1901年集団入植により開拓。225.11km2。3832人（2010）。
