Iso Kinkan (English: The Golden Mirror of Medicine)

Japanese: 医宗金鑑 - いそうきんかん（英語表記）Yī zōng jīn jiàn

Published in 1749 (Qianlong 14) by order of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, this is a complete encyclopedia of traditional Chinese medicine. It has 90 volumes. With the aim of making it useful for clinical treatment, it organizes the theories of various schools of thought from past to present, and some parts are written in the form of songs and include illustrations to make them easier to understand and remember. As such, it does not cover theories unique to Chinese medicine. From the time of its publication until the present day, it has continued to be used as one of the most important standard texts for Chinese clinicians. [Akira Akahori]
