Draft of the Itsukaichi Constitution. Born as a commoner on June 17, 1852, in Shirahata Village, Kurihara County, Rikuzen Province (Shiwahime, Kurihara City, Miyagi Prefecture). His father, Takunojo, was a low-ranking samurai of the Sendai Domain, and died just before Takusaburo was born. He was also separated from his birth mother at a young age. At the age of 12, he studied Dutch studies, and at the age of 17, he served in the Boshin War as a member of the farmers' corps. During this resistance at Shirakawaguchi, he was branded a "rebel army," and from that point on he began a life of wandering in search of a new way of life. He was eventually assigned to Kanno School in Itsukaichi, Nishitama County, Tokyo, where he met Fukazawa Naomaru and Gonpachi, father and son. This encounter brought out his talent, and he engaged in passionate discussions with the young civil rights activists of the Itsukaichi Gakugei Kodankai, including the father and son, and accomplished the great feat of drafting a constitution. He died on November 12, 1883, at the age of 31. His posthumous works include "Kingly Way Theory."
