A long narrative poem by the English poet and craftsman W. Morris. It is a large work of 42,000 lines in 4 volumes, published between 1868 and 1870. It is modelled on Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and consists of a prologue and 24 narrative poems. Among them, "Gudrun's Lovers", based on the Icelandic sagas, is particularly outstanding, and the lyric poems interspersed between the narrative poems beautifully sing of the changing of the seasons in the English countryside.
