1667‐1746 An outstanding clinical physician from the Qing Dynasty in China. His pen name was Tianshi. He was from Wu County (Jiangsu Province). He advocated that when treating patients, one should not be bound by the prescriptions of previous generations, but should carefully identify the symptoms of the illness and then decide on a prescription. He specialized in treating warm diseases, and further developed Wu Youxing's theory, but he believed that there were warm diseases caused by hidden qi within the body and those caused by external sensations. He wrote very few books, but his best known are "Onnetsu-ron" and "Clinical Guide to Medicine." [Akahori Akira] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
