A brown algae of the Laminariales family. It grows from the low tide line to the bathyal zone. The algae are broadly linear, 0.5-1.5m long and 5-20cm wide. Numerous leathery, fairly thick sporophylls are attached to the bottom of the algae. It is edible. It is found west of Hidaka on the Pacific coast of Hokkaido and in northern Honshu. 褐藻類コンブ目コンブ科の海藻。低潮線から漸深帯にかけて生育する。藻体は広い線形,長さ 0.5~1.5m,幅5~20cmに及ぶ。革質でかなり厚い胞子葉が多数藻体の下部につく。食用となる。北海道太平洋岸の日高以西,本州北部に分布する。
