Shortening - foreshortening

Japanese: 短縮法 - たんしゅくほう(英語表記)foreshortening
Shortening - foreshortening
A type of perspective used primarily with the human body, rather than with architecture or landscapes. It depicts a standing or lying human body seen from the head or feet, with an extremely foreshortened form; Mantegna's Dead Christ (Brera Pinacoteca, Milan) is a good example.
