５月５日の節供。邪気を払うと称してショウブやヨモギを軒にさし，菖蒲(しょうぶ)湯に入り，粽(ちまき)や柏餅(かしわもち)を食べる。雛(ひな)の節供に対してこれを男の子の節供とし，武具，甲冑(かっちゅう)，武者人形などを飾り，庭前には鯉幟(こいのぼり)や吹流しを立てて祝う。この日競馬(くらべうま)，流鏑馬(やぶさめ)，印地打(いんじうち)（石合戦），凧(たこ)上げなど武張った勇ましい行事が多く行われる。→こどもの日
