A town in Fujitsu District, southern Saga Prefecture. Occupying the northern slope of Mt. Taradake, the foothills are used for field crops, mandarin oranges, and tea cultivation. Beef cattle are pastured on the middle slopes, and oysters and seaweed are cultivated along the Ariake Sea coast. The Nagasaki Main Line runs through the town. Area: 74.30 km2 .
