An old town at the northwestern tip of the Kita Matsuura Peninsula, Kita Matsuura District, Nagasaki Prefecture. The Matsuura Railway runs through the town, and Tabira Hiradoguchi Station is the gateway to Hirado Island. The Hirado Bridge leads to the island. The entire town is on a low-lying plateau, and is rich in burdock and Chinese cabbage, and cattle, pigs, and chickens are also raised. Offshore fishing is also thriving, centered around Tabira Port. In October 2005, it was incorporated into Hirado City along with Ikitsuki Town and Oshima Village in Kita Matsuura District. 34.61 km2 . 7,811 people (2003). 長崎県北松浦郡,北松浦半島北西端の旧町。松浦鉄道が通じ,たびら平戸口駅は平戸島への門戸。平戸島へ平戸大橋が通じる。全町低平な台地で,ゴボウ,ハクサイを多産し,牛,豚,鶏も飼育。田平港を中心に沖合漁業も盛ん。2005年10月北松浦郡生月町,大島村と平戸市へ編入。34.61km2。7811人(2003)。
