A town in Higashi Shirakawa District, located in the southern part of Fukushima Prefecture, in the upper reaches of the Kuji River. Tanagura, located on a terrace, developed as a castle town, and the Suigun Line runs through it. Rice is the main crop, and konjac, tomatoes, and strawberries are also produced. Timber is also produced in large quantities.
