An accessory for women's Japanese clothing. It is about 10cm wide and 2.2m long, and comes in single-layer and cored bag-shaped varieties. It is used to arrange the chest area of a long juban and to finish off the ends of a long kimono; it is wrapped twice and the ends are tucked in. Made of pure silk, Hakata-ori has a tightly woven center, making it easy to use and not bulky. Datemaki is about twice as long and is wrapped around the body to correct the figure, and is used for dressing in bridal attire. Men's datejime is about 5cm wide and used for nightwear.
