Kiyotomo Tachibana

758－789 A government official in the Nara period.
Born in the second year of Tenpyo-hoji. Son of Tachibana Naramaro. In the eighth year of Hoki, he entertained envoys from Bohai. The envoys saw his appearance and predicted that "his descendants will become nobles, but at the age of 32, he will suffer misfortune." He gave birth to Tachibana Kachiko, who later became the Empress of Emperor Saga, with the daughter of the Taguchi clan. In the fifth year of Enryaku, he became a Toneri (a chamberlain), but died of illness in the eighth year. He was 32 years old. He was posthumously awarded the rank of Shoichii and the title of Daijo-daijin (Grand Minister of State).

天平宝字(てんぴょうほうじ)2年生まれ。橘奈良麻呂の子。宝亀(ほうき)8年渤海(ぼっかい)使節を接待。使節はその相をみて「子孫は貴人となるが,32歳で厄がある」とうらなった。田口氏の娘との間にのちの嵯峨(さが)天皇の皇后橘嘉智子(かちこ)をもうける。延暦(えんりゃく)5年内舎人(うどねり)となったが,8年病没。32歳。正一位,太政大臣を追贈された。
