A town in the Semboku district in the southern part of Osaka Prefecture. It is located between Kishiwada and Izumi-otsu, facing Osaka Bay. The textile industry has been thriving here since ancient times, with factories producing cotton spinning, bleaching, dyeing, blankets, and knitted goods. A lumber complex has been built, and the lumber industry is also thriving. The Nankai Electric Railway main line runs through the town. Area: 3.97 km2 . Population: 18,149 (2010). 大阪府南部，泉北郡の町。岸和田市と泉大津市の間にあり，大阪湾に臨む。古くから繊維工業が盛んで，綿紡，さらし，染色，毛布，メリヤスなどの工場がある。木材コンビナートが建設され，木材工業も盛ん。南海電鉄本線が通じる。3.97km2。１万8149人（2010）。
