This manor was located in Takeno District, Chikugo Province (present-day Tanushimaru Town, Ukiha District, Fukuoka Prefecture). In 1026 (Manju 3), Usa Hachiman Shrine's Moribe Manor was established as a result of the transfer of land from Honjo. Subsequent development led to the establishment of Takeno Shinjo, and the old Takeno Manor came to be called Takeno Honjo. Shinjo consisted of four districts, Togo, Saigo, Kahoku, and Yamamoto, and was the territory of Emperor Toba, but was donated to Saidaiji Shioin by Emperor Fushimi at the end of the Kamakura period. The Kusano clan, the local governor of Chikugo, were the largest local lords in the manor, holding the positions of Kahoku-go Sokomonshiki and Oshoryoshishi, but because the Hojo clan held the position of Sojito, after the downfall of the Hojo clan, the Kenmu government granted it to Saidaiji, and Ashikaga Takauji further guaranteed it.
