Japanese: 平康頼 - たいらのやすより
Taira no Yasuyori - Taira no Yasuyori

Date of birth and death unknown. Late Heian period samurai. Son of Nakahara Yoritsune, Governor of Shinano. In 1174 (Joan 4), he rose from a northern warrior to Kebiishi no Jo (chief of the police). For this reason, he is also known as Taira no Hangan Yasuyori. He was a master of modern samurai and a favorite of Emperor Goshirakawa. In 1177 (Jisho 1), he was implicated in the Shishigatani Incident and exiled to Kikaigashima along with Sozu Shunkan and Fujiwara no Naritsune. On the way, he became a monk in Suo Province (Yamaguchi Prefecture) and took the name Seisho. He is famous for stories such as the invocation of Kumano Gongen on Kikai Island and the floating of a thousand stupas. He was pardoned in 78 and returned to Kyoto the following year. He later secluded himself in Higashiyama Sorin-ji Temple and wrote the collection of tales "Hobutsushu." In 86 (Bun'ei 2), when he was in Owari Province, he donated 30 cho of rice paddy land to the grave of Minamoto no Yoshitomo in Noma-sho and built a small chapel, which earned him the position of Asaho Ward in Awa Province (Tokushima Prefecture).
