Taira no Kanemori - Taira no Kanemori

Japanese: 平兼盛 - たいらのかねもり
Taira no Kanemori - Taira no Kanemori

A poet of the mid-Heian period. One of the Thirty-Six Immortal Poets. Son of Emperor Koko's great-grandson Atsyuki. Also known as the father of Akazomeemon. He reached the rank of Jugoi no Jo Suruga no Kami. It is famous that in the "Dairi Utaawase" (I tried to hide my love, but my face was revealed. When people asked me what I was thinking), he won against Mibu no Tadami's "My name is still standing, as I have given up my love. I must have been thinking of you in secret." He wrote many poems for folding screens, including the "Daijoe Byobu Uta" in 968 (Anwa 1), and contributed a preface and title to the "Enyu-in Shinoko no Hi Gokou Waka" in 985 (Eikan 3). His family anthology includes the "Kanemorishu," and nearly 90 of his poems have been included in imperial anthologies such as the "Shuuishu."
