A leader of a peasant revolt in the late Yi Dynasty of Korea. A fallen yangban (a nobleman) from Chungcheong Province, he converted to Donghak in 1863 under the teachings of Choi Je-gu, and after Choi was executed, he planned rebellions in Jincheon, Chungcheong Province, and Jinju, Gyeongsang Province, and was pursued by the authorities. In March 1871, under the pretext of clearing the false charges of the founder, he gathered several hundred peasants and others, attacked the government office in Yeonghae-bu, Gyeongsang Province, seized military equipment, and executed corrupt officials. After being repelled by government troops, he fled to Mungyeong, Chungcheong Province, and launched a larger uprising in August, but was captured, interrogated, and executed in Seoul at the end of the same year.

朝鮮，李朝末期の農民反乱の指導者。忠清道出身の没落両班（ヤンバン）で，1863年に教祖崔済愚の教えをうけて東学に入信し，崔が刑死したあと忠清道鎮川や慶尚道晋州などで反乱を企てて官憲の追及をうけた。71年3月，教祖の冤罪を晴らすという名目で農民ら数百人を糾合，慶尚道寧海府の役所を襲撃し，軍器を奪って悪徳官吏を処断した。官軍のために撃退されると忠清道聞慶にのがれ，8月にはより大規模な蜂起を敢行したが，捕捉され訊問をうけたあと，同年末にソウルで処刑された。
