Dates of birth and death unknown. A military commander during the Nanboku-cho period. He became a monk and took the name Yoshihisa, and later Hidehisa. He was the son of Ishida Yorimitsu, a branch of the Ashikaga clan. During the Kenmu administration, he became the deputy governor of both Suruga and Izu provinces, and when Ashikaga Takauji established the shogunate, he became the governor of both provinces. In 1337 (Engen 2, Kenmu 4), he was appointed as the supreme commander of Oshu and made an effort to pursue the Southern forces, but in 1345 (Kokoku 6, Sadawa 1), he was dismissed. He then joined the party of Ashikaga Tadayoshi, and was instrumental in recapturing Ashikaga Mitsuo (Motouji), who had been supported by Kouno Morofuyu, and was restored to the position of governor of Izu. However, at the end of 1651 (Shohei 6, Kan'o 2), he was defeated by Takauji who had traveled east, and after Tadayoshi's death the following year, he sided with the Southern Court, temporarily occupying Kamakura together with Nitta Yoshioki and others. He then joined forces with Nitta Yoshimune and Momoi Naotsune in the north, raising an army in Suruga, and is said to have entered Kyoto in 1653 (Shohei 8, Bunwa 2) together with his eldest son Yorifusa and others, but his whereabouts after that are unclear.
