A manor consisting of roughly equal sizes of around 1, 2, or 3 cho, seen in manors from the end of the Heian period to the Kamakura period. A manor consisting of equal names is called an equal name manor. Even equal name manors are often seen in manors in the Kinai region that were exempt from miscellaneous duties, and are said to be a characteristic of Kinai manors. Even names are divided into complete equal names, which have a completely equal composition of the fields, and incomplete equal names, which do not. It is generally believed that equal names were created for the convenience of manor lords in collecting official duties (miscellaneous duties) and labor services equally. Famous examples include Izumo Manor and Wakatsuki Manor in Yamato Province, which were owned by Daijo-in Temple, Ikeda Manor in Yamato Province, which was owned by Ichijo-in Temple, and Kuga Manor in Yamashiro Province, which was owned by the Koga family.
