A city in the eastern part of Osaka Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1956. It stretches from the west side of the Ikoma Mountains to the Kawachi Plain. In the mid-Edo period, the lowlands of Fukonoike and Shinkaiike were reclaimed, and residential development is underway. It borders Osaka City, and is served by the Katamachi Line, the Kinki Expressway, and the Hanna Expressway. Large spinning and electrical appliance factories have set up shop here, while the foothills are home to many small factories making flour, wire mesh, and hosiery. The eastern part is included in Kongo-Ikoma-Kisen Quasi-National Park. It is home to Jigenji Temple (Nozaki Kannon), famous for the "Nozaki Mairi" pilgrimage. Area: 18.27 km2 . 大阪府東部の市。1956年市制。生駒山地西側から河内平野にわたる。江戸中期に深野(ふこうの)池,新開池を干拓した低地では宅地化が進む。大阪市に接し,片町線,近畿自動車道,阪奈道路が通じ,紡績,電気器具の大工場が進出,山麓には在来の製粉,金網,メリヤスなどの小工場が多い。東部は金剛生駒紀泉国定公園に含まれる。〈野崎参り〉で有名な慈眼(じげん)寺(野崎観音)がある。18.27km2。12万7534人(2010)。
