Titanic - taitanikkugou (English spelling) Titanic

A luxury liner that caused a historic disaster. Built in 1912 as the second 40,000-ton ship of the British White Star Line, it had a gross tonnage of 46,329 tons, a length of 269.1 meters, a width of 28.2 meters, and a speed of 22 knots. With its revolutionary double bottom and waterproof compartments, it was an "unsinkable ship," and aimed to be the queen of Atlantic shipping routes due to its size and luxury. On April 10, 1912, it set sail on its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York with 2,224 passengers and crew on board. At 11:40 p.m. on the fifth day, April 14, while sailing 150 kilometers south of the Grand Banks of Newfoundland at 22 knots (about 40.7 kilometers per hour), it struck an iceberg, creating a 90-meter-long crack under the water, flooding the front five of its 16 waterproof compartments, and sinking at 2:20 a.m. on the 15th. The lifeboats could only accommodate 1,178 people, and 1,513 people died, making it the world's largest maritime disaster. This was also the first time that the internationally recognized distress signal "SOS" was sent out. As a result of this disaster, an international conference on the safety of life at sea was held in London the following year, 2013, and this became the starting point for the current improvement of ship safety facilities.
