Taishan Stone Carvings (English: Tai-shan-ke-shi)

Japanese: 泰山刻石 - たいざんこくせき（英語表記）Tai-shan-ke-shi

A monument erected on Mount Tai (c. 219 BCE) by the First Emperor of Qin, China, during his tour of what is now central Shandong Province. It is currently located in the Daimiao Temple in Tai'an City. The calligraphy is said to have been written by Li Si, and is known as Qin Seal Script or Small Seal Script. A fragment was discovered during the Song dynasty, and originally contained 222 characters, but today only about 10 remain. Although there is little change, the refined beauty of seal script is apparent. A rubbing of 165 characters from the Northern Song dynasty (Calligraphy Museum) remains.

中国，秦の始皇帝が現在の山東省中部を巡遊したときにタイ (泰) 山に立てた記念碑 (前 219頃) 。現在泰安市の岱廟にある。その書は李斯 (りし) の筆と伝えられ，秦篆，小篆と呼ばれる。宋代に断片が発見され，もと 222字が存在したが，現在は 10字ほどを残すのみとなった。変化に乏しいが，篆書の洗練された美しさがある。北宋時代の 165字の拓本 (書道博物館) が残っている。
