The Great Rear Area - Daikouhou (English spelling)

The Great Rear Area - Daikouhou (English spelling)
"Rear" is generally a term used in contrast to the "front line" in war, but in China, during the War of Resistance against Japan from 1937 to 1945, the areas beyond the direct reach of the Japanese military were called the "Great Rear." During the War of Resistance against Japan, areas occupied by the Japanese military, the frontline anti-Japanese guerrilla areas under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party and their direct rear anti-Japanese base areas, and areas beyond the reach of the Japanese military coexisted in a fluid manner, and the "Great Rear" referred to this third area, namely the area controlled by the Kuomintang, with Chongqing in southwestern and northwestern China as its wartime capital.
