…The main line runs from Kanaya on the Tokaido Main Line to Senzu along the Oi River, and was electrified in 1949. The Ikawa Line is a non-electrified line from Senzu to Ikawa, and was built in connection with the power development project of Chubu Electric Power. Efforts have been made to preserve steam locomotives to attract passengers, and in 1976 steam trains were reinstated on the main line using locomotives and passenger cars sold by the Japanese National Railways, and later locomotives from the Japanese National Railways that had returned from Thailand were also added. …
