Japanese: 袖ヶ浦[市] - そでがうら

A city in central Chiba prefecture facing Tokyo Bay. It was incorporated as a city in 1991. It used to be a semi-agricultural, semi-fishing town, with rice, wheat and vegetables grown on the plateau and seaweed and shellfish farmed along the bay. Reclamation of the coast began in the 1960s, and it became part of the Keiyo Industrial Area, and became an industrial city with thriving petroleum and chemical industries. The number of commuters heading towards Tokyo on the Uchibo Line increased, and residential development progressed inland. The city suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. ^{94.93 km2} . 60,355 people (2010).

千葉県中部，東京湾に面する市。1991年市制。かつては台地上で米麦，野菜の栽培，湾岸でノリ，貝の養殖が行われる半農半漁の町であった。1960年代から海岸の埋立てが始まり，京葉工業地域の一角を形成し，石油工業，化学工業が盛んな工業都市となった。内房線を利用する東京方面への通勤者が増加，内陸部では宅地開発が進んだ。東日本大震災で，市内において被害が発生。94.93km²。６万355人（2010）。
