Single-edged (biased) blade

...A general term for tools that cut, scrape, or carve with a cutting edge where two sharp surfaces meet. A tool with a blade on both sides, like a sword, is called a moroha or ryoba, while a tool with a blade on only one side, like a katana, is called a kataha. This distinction has been made in Japan since the Nara period, and the word katana comes from the word katana, which means single-edged blade (na is an old word for blade).
