Zǔ Tǐng (English spelling)

Japanese: 祖珽 - そてい（英語表記）Zǔ Tǐng

? - A Chinese official of the Northern Qi Dynasty around 574. His courtesy name was Xiao Zheng. He was from a noble family in Yu County, Fanyang County (Yi County, Hebei Province). He was a gifted man skilled in poetry, literature, and various academic subjects and music, and was highly valued by Emperors Gao Huan and Wenxuan, but his frivolousness and greed often led him to break the law. He gained the favor of Emperor Wucheng and competed with the Enko group for power. He was imprisoned and lost his sight, but his obsession with power was so intense that he forced the famous general Huolü Guang to be executed, weakening the country's strength. He was demoted to governor of Northern Xuzhou and died, but his life was typical of the aristocratic families of the time, who sought to prolong their lives through the emperor's favor.

中国，北斉の官僚。字は孝徴。范陽郡遒（ゆう）県(河北省易県)の名族。詩文に長じ諸学，音曲に通じた才人で，高歓や文宣帝に重用されたが，軽薄，貪欲のためしばしば法を犯した。武成帝に取り入り，恩倖グループと権勢を争った。入獄して失明したが権力への執念はすさまじく，名将斛律光（こくりつこう）を誅殺に追いこんで国力を弱める結果となった。北徐州刺史に左遷されて没したが，その生涯は皇帝の恩寵によって延命をはかる当時の門閥貴族の典型を示す。
