A general term for inks that dry in a very short time immediately after printing. However, it is not usually included inks that dry by solvent evaporation. In the 1970s, ultraviolet-curing inks that cure completely within a few seconds using reactions such as acrylic groups were put to practical use, making fast-drying inks a reality. However, ultraviolet-curing inks cannot polymerize using only the energy of ultraviolet light, and therefore require the use of large amounts of reaction initiators and sensitizers, which makes them expensive and has the disadvantage that these non-reactive substances remain in the dried ink film.
