Sokanga

Japanese: 桑乾河 - そうかんが

A river that flows through northern Shanxi and northern Hebei provinces in China; it is the name of the upper reaches of the Yongding River, which is part of the Haihe River system. It flows northeast from the northern mountainous area of Shanxi, flows east through the northern Taihang Mountains of Hebei, flows southeast or south under the name of Yongding River near Huailai County, and flows into the sea as the Haihe River after merging with the Ziya River and others in northwest Tianjin. The approximately 400km section up to the Huailai County Government Dam is called the Sanggan River. This dam and large protective forest, built in 1953, have overcome the flood damage caused by the Yongding River, which often flooded its downstream area and was called the Wuding River. [Ono Kikuo]

中国，山西省北部と河北省北部を流れる河川で，海河水系永定河上流の名称。山西省北部山地から北東流し，河北省の太行山脈北部を東流，懐来県付近から永定河の名で南東または南流，天津北西で子牙河などと合流して海河として海へ注ぐ。懐来県官庁ダムまでの約400kmを桑乾河という。1953年建設のこのダムや大防護林により，下流域でしばしばはんらんし，無定河といわれた永定河の水害は克服された。【小野菊雄】
