Jiē Xi si (English spelling)

Japanese: 掲傒斯 - けいけいし（英語表記）Jiē Xī sī

1274‐1344
A scholar from the Yuan Dynasty in China. Born in Longxingfu Prefecture (Fengcheng County, Jiangxi Province). His courtesy name was Manshuo. He was recognized by Cheng Joufu and Lu Zhu, who were Hunan envoys around the same time, and married Cheng Joufu's cousin. On Lu Zhu's recommendation, he was appointed editor of the Hanlin National History Institute in the first year of the Yanyou era of Emperor Renzong (1314). He served various emperors in the central government from then on, and made great strides by utilizing his vast knowledge and literary talent. He was ordered by Emperor Shun to be the chief official in charge of compiling the three histories of the Liao, Jin, and Song dynasties, and completed the History of the Liao Dynasty. He died while the History of the Jin Dynasty was being compiled. His calligraphy was elegant and classical, and he excelled in running script in particular.

中国，元の学者。竜興富州(江西省豊城県)の人。字は曼碩（まんせき）。前後して湖南廉訪使になった程鉅夫（ていきよふ），盧執（ろし）らに認められ，程鉅夫の従妹と結婚，盧執の推薦によって仁宗の延祐元年(1314)翰林国史院編修官に就任。以来中央にあって諸帝に仕え，その博識と文才を傾けて活躍した。順帝の命により遼･金･宋三史編纂の総裁官に列し，《遼史》を完成。《金史》編纂中に死した。書は端正古雅，とくに行書にすぐれていた。
