A species of the family Trichilidae of the class Diptera of Nematoda. It is a parasitic worm that infects humans and many other mammals. The adult size of the worm is 1.4-1.6 mm in length and 0.04-0.06 mm in width for males, and 3-4 mm in length and 0.06-0.07 mm in width for females. Humans become infected by eating raw meat from pigs, wild boars, bears, horses, etc., undercooked meat dishes, dried meat, and salted meat. When meat containing encapsulated larvae is eaten, the larvae are released from their encapsulation by the action of digestive juices in the small intestine and invade the small intestinal mucosa, where they become adults within a few days and mate.

線形動物双器綱センモウチュウ科の1種。寄生虫の一つで，ヒトその他多くの哺乳類が感染する。成虫の大きさは，雄が長さ1.4～1.6mm，幅0.04～0.06mm，雌が長さ3～4mm，幅0.06～0.07mm。ヒトへの感染は，ブタ，イノシシ，クマ，ウマなどの生肉，加熱不十分な肉料理，乾燥肉，塩蔵肉などを食べることによって起こる。被包に包まれた幼虫を有する肉を食べると，幼虫は小腸内で消化液の作用で被包から出て小腸粘膜に侵入し，数日以内に成虫となり交尾する。
