Zentokuji Temple

Japanese: 善徳寺 - ぜんとくじ
Zentokuji Temple
This is a temple of the Otani sect of Shinshu Buddhism in Johana-cho, Toyama Prefecture (now Nanto City). It is also known as Johana Betsuin. It began as a monk's quarter built by Hongan-ji Rennyo during the Bunmei era (1469-1487), and moved several times before moving to its current location. During this time, it was active in the Ikko-ikki uprisings. In the East-West branch of Hongan-ji, it sided with the East-wing Kyonyo. During the Edo period, it was well protected by the Kanazawa domain, and the fourth son of the 13th domain lord entered the temple.
