Born July 28, 1790. Father of Kikuchi Norichika. Born in Shimotsuke (Tochigi Prefecture). He inherited the Kikuchi family of Utsunomiya. At the age of 26, he opened a cotton wholesaler in Hamamachi, Edo, and became a wealthy merchant in one generation. During the Tenpo famine, he devoted himself to helping refugees. He was known as an avid reader and good at writing. He passed away on May 17, 1853. He was 65 years old. His real surname was Ohashi. His given name was Tomoyoshi.
