This is a 21-volume handwritten diary by Ikeda Mitsumasa, lord of Okayama domain. The originals were passed down to the Ikeda family, but are now in the possession of the Okayama Museum of Art. The articles span the period from October 8, 1637 (Kan'ei 14) to February 2, 1669 (Kanbun 9), and cover a wide range of topics, from domain administration in general to relations with the shogunate, negotiations with family members and relatives and other domains, annual events, weddings, funerals, and other ceremonial occasions, making it a rare and valuable diary of a daimyo. The handwriting is beautiful and difficult to read, but there is a reprint available. [Taniguchi Sumio]

岡山藩主池田光政の自筆の日記で21冊。原本は池田家に襲蔵されたが，現在は岡山美術館の所蔵。記事は1637年(寛永14)10月8日から69年(寛文9)2月2日に及び，藩政全般から対幕関係，一門･親類の諸家および他藩との交渉，年中行事･冠婚葬祭など多岐にわたり，大名日記として稀有かつ貴重なものである。なお，筆跡は達筆で難読のものであるが，翻刻本がある。【谷口澄夫】
