Japanese: ウロハゼ(洞沙魚) - ウロハゼ（英語表記）spottyband goby

A fish of the genus Goby in the family Gobiidae of the order Perciformes (illustration). Its snout is large, with the lower jaw protruding further than the upper jaw, and the tip of its tongue divided into two. Its head is flattened vertically. Its body is gray-brown with five dark brown spots on its sides. There is a dark brown band running from under the eye to the lower jaw. The first dorsal fin has three unclear stripes. The fish has noticeable black spots. As the fish grows, the left and right pelvic fins join together to form a suction cup-like cavity, hence the name Uro goby.

スズキ目ハゼ科ヒトミハゼ属の魚（イラスト）。吻（ふん）部は大きく下あごは上あごよりも突き出ており，舌の先が二つに分かれる。頭部は縦扁している。体色は灰褐色，体側に5個の暗褐色の斑紋がある。眼の下から下あごまで走る暗褐色の帯がある。第1背びれには一部不明りょうな3条の縞模様がある。黒色斑点が目だつ魚である。腹びれは成長につれて左右が合わさって吸盤状となり，洞（うろ）のように見えるのでウロハゼの名がある。
