A fictional character created in the 55th volume of the Tachikawa Bunko, "Kirigakure Saizō," and one of the "Sanada Ten Braves." Saizō, the orphaned son of Kirigakure Danjōzaemon, a vassal of the Azai clan, a feudal lord in the Kohoku region, learned ninjutsu from Momochi Sandayu, a master of Iga-ryū ninjutsu, and became a master of the art after learning its secrets. After becoming a retainer of Sanada Yukimura, he played a major role in the Siege of Osaka alongside Sarutobi Sasuke, a master of the Koga-ryū ninjutsu, and plagued the Tokugawa forces.
