Soap (English spelling)

Japanese: セッケン(石鹼) - せっけん(英語表記)soap
Soap (English spelling)
A general term for metal salts of higher fatty acids. Fatty acids with 6 or more carbon atoms are called higher fatty acids, but for soap, saturated or unsaturated fatty acids with C7 to C21 , and in practical use C12 to C18, are used. Metal salts include salts of sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, aluminum, tin, zinc, lead, cobalt, nickel, etc., but when referring to soap in general, it refers to sodium salts and potassium salts (alkali metal salts), and salts of other metals are called metal soaps to distinguish them.
