In Germany and the Netherlands, it is called Kegel, and in the UK, it is called skittle or ninepins. Nine sake bottle-shaped wooden poles (pins) are arranged in a square, and players compete to get the most points by rolling a wooden ball over them from a certain distance. It first appeared as a game in German churches around the 11th century, and it is said that the religious reformer Luther created the rules for nine pins in the early 16th century. It was later introduced to the United States, where in 1875 the number of pins was increased to ten, and modern bowling was born. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
