An evil monk from the time of Empress Wu Zetian in the Tang Dynasty in China. He was from Jingzhaohu County (Huxian County, Shaanxi Province). His real surname was Feng, and his given name was Xiaobao. He started out as a medicine seller in Luoyang, but became the Empress Wu's lover, and was encouraged to become a monk by her. He restored the White Horse Temple in Luoyang and became its head priest, overseeing the construction of the Ming Hall and composing divination texts attached to the Great Cloud Sutra, and was active in realizing the Wu Zhou Revolution. After the establishment of the Wu Zhou dynasty, he lost favor, set fire to the Ming Hall, and was murdered by Princess Taiping. [Tonbo Hu]

中国，唐の則天武后のころの妖僧。京兆鄠（こ）県(陝西省戸県)の人。本姓は馮（ふう），名は小宝。洛陽の薬売りから，武后の愛人となり，その勧めで僧侶となった。洛陽の白馬寺を修復してその寺主となり，明堂建立の監督をしたり，《大雲経》に付会した讖文（しんぶん）を作ったりして，武周革命実現のために活動した。武周王朝の成立後，寵愛を失い，明堂に放火して，太平公主に謀殺された。【礪波護】
