A concept that S. Freud contrasted with the "death instinct (death drive)" in his later instinct theory. More precisely, it is the "life drive" or "life drive." In his earlier instinct theory, Freud contrasted the "ego instinct" with the "sexual instinct," but when he proposed the "death instinct," he combined the "ego instinct" and the "sexual instinct" under the "life instinct." The "death instinct" destroys life and aims for an inorganic state, or death, while the "life instinct" maintains the unity of life and seeks to achieve even greater unity.
