Production goods - Seisanzai (English spelling) production goods

They are goods used in the production process of consumer goods that directly satisfy human desires, and are defined as opposed to consumer goods. This distinction between producer goods and consumer goods is not based on the attributes of the goods, so for example, oil and electricity are producer goods if they are used in factories to produce consumer goods, and consumer goods if they are used in homes. Producer goods include land and capital goods, but land, along with labor, is sometimes distinguished as an essential producer good. Therefore, in the narrow sense, producer goods and capital goods are synonymous. As with capital goods, they are distinguished based on durability, into durable producer goods such as factories and machinery, and single-use producer goods such as raw materials and fuel.

人間の欲望を直接に満足させる消費財の生産過程において使用される財であり、消費財に対するものとして規定されている。この生産財と消費財の区分は、財の属性による区分ではないので、たとえば石油や電力などは、工場で消費財の生産に使用されれば生産財となり、家庭で使用されれば消費財となる。生産財には土地と資本財とが含まれているが、土地は労働とともに本源的生産財として区別されることがある。したがって狭義に考えた場合には、生産財と資本財とは同義となる。資本財と同様に、耐久性によって、工場・機械などの耐久生産財と、原料・燃料などの単用生産財とに区別される。
