Adirondack Mountains : A mountain range in the northeastern part of New York State, USA. The highest peak is Mount Marcy (1,630 meters above sea level). It is sandwiched between the St. Lawrence River to the north and the Mohawk River to the south. Most of the area is occupied by the state Adirondack Park, and it is known as a resort area rich in nature. It is home to Lake Placid, the site of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics.
