Jingxing (English spelling)

Japanese: 井陘 - せいけい（英語表記）Jǐng xíng

A county in the Taihang Mountains in the midwest of Hebei Province, China. Population: 314,000 (1994). It belongs to Shijiazhuang City, and has the Jingxing Coal Mining District (population: 109,000, 1994) under the direct control of the city. It borders Shanxi Province. Since the Qin and Han dynasties, counties have been established in the area, and Jingxing Pass in the northeast of the county is the fifth of the eight Taihang Passes, and was also called Tumen Pass. It has been a strategic military location since the Qin and Han dynasties. In 204 BC, during the early Han dynasty, Han Xin and his allies defeated Chen Yu here, and during the An Lushan Rebellion in the Tang dynasty, it was the site of fierce battles with the Tang army. However, it was the development of the Jingxing coal mine that made the name Jingxing particularly famous.

中国，河北省中西部の太行山脈中の県。人口31万4000(1994)。石家荘市に属し，別に市直轄の井陘鉱区(人口10万9000,1994)がある。山西省に境を接する。秦･漢以来県が置かれ，県北東の井陘関は太行八陘の第5陘に当たり，また土門関とも呼ばれた。秦･漢以来の軍事上の険要の地であった。漢初の前204年，韓信らは陳余をここに撃破し，唐代の安禄山の乱に際しては，唐軍との攻防の激戦地であった。しかし井陘の名がとくに世に出たのは井陘炭鉱の開発による。
