Arab meter. Rhythmic type or rhythmic cycle. Because the concept of metrical system of classical poetry was applied to music, the name is often the same as the name of the meter, but the actual rhythmic cycle does not necessarily match the two. In the 9th century, there were eight types, but by the 16th century, there were more than 20, including rhythmic types of Persian and Turkish origin. Later, with the expansion of the Ottoman Empire, various Turkish rhythmic cycles were introduced, and the number of types reached more than 100. Many īqās prescribe not only the rhythmic type, but also the tempo and musical form.

アラブの拍節法。リズム型ないしリズム周期。古典詩の韻律法の概念を音楽に応用したため，名称は韻律の名と同じものが多いが，リズム周期としての実態は必ずしも両者一致しない。９世紀には８種類であったが，16世紀にはペルシアやトルコ起源のリズム型をも加えて20を超えた。その後，オスマン帝国の拡張でトルコのさまざまなリズム周期が導入され，その種類は100以上にもなった。イーカーアの多くは，リズム型のみならず，テンポや楽式まで規定する。
