A type of demonstration in which workers or members of labor movement organizations sit down near the employer or negotiating partner to appeal to society at large and demonstrate their determination to see their demands through. In some cases, workers do not leave a factory or business during a strike, but stay in the workplace to prevent strikebreakers from working or to prevent the strike from being broken up. In this case, it is called a sit-down strike as a type of strike. In addition, if workers stay in the workplace and then try to exclude the employer and continue production or business under the control of the workers alone, it is called a work-in strike.
