〘名〙① 祝いのことば。祝詞。賀詞。※本朝無題詩(1162‐64頃)一〇・九月尽日陪天満天神祠〈藤原敦光〉「三秋徂景帰羈路、万代祝言唱廟庭」※曾我物語(南北朝頃)四「されば、箱王は、あらたま年のしゅうげんをもわすれ」② 祝い。祝儀。※謡曲・春栄(1435頃)「親と子の定めを祝ふ祝言の、千秋万歳の舞の袖」③ (━する) 嫁入りの儀式を行なうこと。また、その式。婚礼。結婚式。※娵入記(1443‐73頃)「御わかこの御ちの人にても、御しうげんなどにて御なり候」④ 男女の肉体的な交わり。※咄本・昨日は今日の物語(1614‐24頃)下「思ひよらず傾城町を通れば〈略〉是非に及ばずしうげんをつとめて」⑤ 舞楽・浄瑠璃などで、終わりに演じる曲。舞楽では「長慶子」、浄瑠璃では「梵天国」、長唄では「菊慈童」など。⑥ 「しゅうげんのう(祝言能)」の略。※三道(1423)「先、祝言の風体、開口人出でて、〈略〉七八句謡ふべし」⑦ 「しゅうげんおんぎょく(祝言音曲)」の略。※花鏡(1424)序破急之事「扇拍子より、祝言の音曲、次第次第の風体は、〈略〉用意のままなるべし」⑧ 能楽で、五音(ごおん)の一。自然によどみなくうたう曲。また、その味わい。〔五音曲条々(1429‐41頃)〕
